Lanas

Situated along the river Ardèche, 5 km from the campsite Le Bardou and nestling against the plateau des gras, you will find this small picturesque village where you can visit its small cobbled streets with covered passages and stone houses.

It is in this small village that Henri Charrière is buried. Nicknamed Papillon because he was always there where he was not expected, this Ardéchois, sentenced to hard labour for a crime he always denied, was best known for his escape from the Cayenne prison.  Papillon wrote a book about this episode of his life and the American cinema retraced his life with, in the role of Papillon, the famous actor Steve Mac Queen.
